“I do not think the elders would allow a helicopter even with the ‘relaxed views’ as Dakota says. He was not allowed to keep his helicopter on the reservation.”
I shrug. “He still owns the Lightfoot building and Princes uses the hangar there. I’m sure he wouldn’t have a problem with me keeping the chopper there and moving Princes to the hangar.”
She shakes her head. “Your world is really that simple. I am happy to be part of that, Jared.”
She’s easy, she just doesn’t know it. I smile standing. “Headstrong and opinionated my ass. Love you, Wuyituwôk.”
She kisses my chin and gives me my new favorite words. “I love you too, Jared.”
I have heard them before, but never spoken them. Feeling it, makes a huge difference when I know she doesn’t want anything but love back. I got this.
I undress her making sure my hands follow her clothes down her body. When I stand, she’s smiling. “My turn.” She mimics my movements and I think she’s perfect.
When she stands, I lift her and move onto the bed. She scared the shit out of me when we jumped to the spirit world. Now I make sure we’re on the bed just in case. She looks like she’s ready to laugh. “I’m still not ready to move off the bed. If we fall, you’re falling on the soft mattress.” She laughs like I’m kidding, but that was fuckin’ nuts. I woke up with her head hanging off the bed, our lower bodies still pressed together and my arms still around her waist. If I wasn’t holding her she would have fallen, right on her head.
Her tit is in my mouth making me happy, but Aiyana has another idea. She’s gone and laughs when I look to the side. I look up at her as she’s just kneeling above the bed. I do a push-up getting to my knees then wait for what she has planned. I’m hard as a rock just looking at her in the fuckin’ air. My head is showing me all the possibilities and positions this little revelation gives us. Fuck, I need to get control. “So many possibilities to get that sweet pussy off, Aiyana. Move your body wherever you want, Wuyituwôk. Put my mouth to work. Where do you want it?”
She spins so her back is to me and moves her body closer as she rises up. “I love you offering your pussy just like this. Do you want me playing with your ass too, my Indian Princess?”
She moans as my hands squeeze and stroke her. I can’t wait and drop my mouth on her, pushing her back so she’s bent. Holding her ass, I’m moving her for my tongue. Fuckin’ perfect. Every time she’s close I move my tongue to her ass, teasing and biting just enough so she’ll remember it. I move back when she begs.
I’m devouring her pussy, matching her sounds so she feels the vibration buzzing through her. She moves us and her mouth is on my dick while her knees are on my shoulders. Fuckin’ sweet! My mouth is happy again. She loses it when she comes and I hold her up as soon as my feet hit the bed. She swallows me and I’m on my knees trying to hold her against me while coming down her throat. “Aiyana!” She’s moaning the whole fuckin’ time. Jesus. As soon as I’m out of her mouth I lay her down and get us pillows. She’s out. I replay her in the air and moan. That is so fuckin’ hot. I close my eyes to the new positions playing through my head and fall asleep.
Chapter Four
One Week
Aiyana
“I love the days I wake up on your chest,” I mumble as my eyes open.
His arm tightens. “Me too, Wuyituwôk. The best of my life so far.”
He is very outspoken in his love for me. It is in keeping with what I have seen with the Princes. They do not speak like he does, but their actions speak of it. It makes me happy for him to show those actions in front of others as well.
“We need to get to work. I’m due at Baxters today to help my dad with an Ops plan while you’re training.”
I do not want to leave my warm cocoon. “Christian told me you are our ride today. I am at the reservation tonight. I will call when I get home.”
“I hate that you call it home. I can meet you there when you’re done. If I’m going to live there I should see it from a different point of view than visitor.”
This is not good. “They will not allow you on the reservation without a native guide.”
He sits up and steadies me. “I’m going to live there and can’t be there without you? What if you’re working?”
I love that he sees me working away from the reservation, even that he understands what working means to me, but this is not the point. “I do not know if they will allow us to live on the reservation. I will find out what they plan for me tonight and whether you living there will go to a vote next week.”
He stands up angrily. “What they plan for you? Like how you live your life? That kind of plan?”
“Yes.” There is nothing for me to add here when it really comes down to just what he said.
Sitting in front of me he takes my hands. “What do you feel when you see me?”
I smile. “Love. You steal my breath with your smile. Your eyes shine with a singular focus on me and I feel that love. Your gentle hands always instill calm and strength to guide me at your side. Your mouth reinforces your belief in me through your words. Your heart is my stability and beats for me when mine is afraid or unsure. I see love, Jared.”
He leans back. “I didn’t expect all that, but I feel that same love from you. You don’t need people telling you what you can and can’t do. I understand obligations to live a certain way, but telling someone who to love is wrong in any world. Racism is wrong in any world.”
He does not understand the way we are brought up on the reservation, my role as seer and healer to them or my abhorrence of their intolerable beliefs. “I understand and agree. I cannot change what is meant to be. I can only listen to their advice and guidance and make a decision after. These are not the values of all tribes. Only a few are still holding to the old traditional culture and mine just happens to be one of them. Since Dakota moved they have been better, but it is not the world as you see it or as I want to see it.”
“I’ll be waiting for you after the meeting.”
I shake my head. I understand he will offer comfort and his love, but that will come at a high price after an already difficult meeting. “You will not be allowed on the reservation, Jared.”
“Chevy is there, he knows me.”
I smile. “You are more stubborn than I am. I will come here if I am permitted to leave tonight.”
“Permitted? You’re here a couple of times a week. You have to ask permission?” He is back to angry.
Putting my hands on his face I kiss his lips. “Relax, Jared. I come to training and just stay. I have not asked for permission to leave. If I am there at night, I stay, if I am not, I stay here. The gate is guarded and I would be asked why I am leaving. RS does not have the Warriors to accompany me whenever I decide to leave on a whim. My Security falls to them while I am there.”
“I’m not a whim and I’ll get you Security if that’s what you need. I need to get it anyway.”
Why does he need Security? “I did not mean you are a whim. I just mean they do not have the manpower to cover me at all times. Why do you need to get Security?”
“For you. You’re covered because of Princes, but away from the towns you need Security. I didn’t think of RS.”
For me? “Why would you get Security for me at all? I do not understand.”
He looks confused. “I’m a Baxter. That means you need Security. If I’m out of the yard I have Security too. Princes handle Baxters Security so I’ll just add you.”
“You have Security?” This is the first time I have heard this.
“We all do. They come with us all the time. Paint balling was Jessie and Dakota, but we had two regular Security too because of Kaleb. Hiking we had Sheila. Jax showed with her, but she was Security that day. Whenever we go anywhere we’re covered, it’s normal for me, we grew up with Security.”
“Why?” I did not know we had Security because of him or Kaleb. I thought it was just friends having fun.
“We’re Baxters. We
all have considerable holdings, but my mom is Mitch Baxter. Any leverage they can use to get her is covered in Security. Anywhere else we’d have regular Security details. Living here, mine happens to be with my closest Brothers and their wives. Me and Jess luck out.” He is smiling, but his eyes are intent.
“I do not have a job, Jared. I live off the tribal money allotted to me. My parents control that even.”
He paces, but does not look at me. “You should be controlling your own money. I’ll talk to Dakota. You’re telling me you don’t have a job, but you’re working for Princes. You should be paid for that. Is this your way of saying you can’t afford Security?”
“Yes. I do not see what Dakota can do about money, until I am married my parents control money, it is the way. He is a Prophet, but does not have the ear of all the elders. He does not even go to the reservation very often anymore.”
I am lifted up and he sits. “Security because of me is paid for by Baxters Corp. It’s the way it’s always been done. Maybe Dakota can’t do anything, but it won’t hurt to ask. I’ll set up Security and be at the gate when you’re finished tonight.”
“Stubborn, stubborn man. I am sure I will be happy to see you at the gate tonight.” That is the biggest understatement I ever have spoken. I am very nervous about this meeting.
* * *
Jared
“Dad, this is crazy.”
He smiles thinking it’s a compliment. “Jamie and Knight are crazy, but effective.”
“What does Ben say?”
He laughs. “He thinks we’re nuts too. He likes the plan though.”
I shake my head and hand him the laptop. “You’re all set. I just got a text that I need to get Christian and Aiyana back to Princes.”
He’s not happy. “When do we see you again? Your mom was hoping for dinner.”
I stand putting my laptop in my bag. “Maybe this weekend. Aiyana has a meeting with the elders tonight.”
“Jess says the tribe is making her life hard.” He walks out beside me.
She’s not wrong. “Yeah, it’s not how we live that’s for sure.”
At the chopper, he turns to look at me. “If you need our help just ask. Jamie’s looking for a way to get some help to keep the pipelines off their land.”
Since I don’t have time to get into the whole racial intolerance thing I just nod. I’m going to have to talk to him at some point. He’s the most easy going dad I have, so I need to bring this to him. My mom is going to flip the fuck out. People thinking Baxters are not good enough won’t play well with anyone in my family. That’s not a discussion I can have now. I hug him and promise to call about dinner this weekend. Flying over to MC-Baxters I think about my Wuyituwôk — she was already nervous this morning only eating toast, I hope she’s eaten since. I need to ask about dinner, maybe we’ll have time before her meeting. Dakota is asking about her money, so hopefully it won’t be another stress for her. He didn’t look happy to learn that her parents control it.
I set down and see Christian and Aiyana walk out the back door. She really is an Indian goddess — I’m a lucky bastard. As they get closer I notice something is wrong. As soon as the door opens and they have cans on I ask.
“The fuckin’ elders showed at Princes. Apparently, their meeting can’t wait.” Christian is pissed. This can’t be because training was cut short, we’re only a half hour early. I throw a wink to a nervous Aiyana and lift off. It’s the longest twenty-minute flight without anyone talking. As we clear Princes airspace Christian finally speaks. “Drop us at Security.”
“Roger, Christian.” Fuck, Prez won’t like me leaving the chopper there. I’ll get it to the hangar and ride over.
“Get back here quick, Jared,” Christian yells jumping out. Great.
I leave the controls and catch Aiyana in the lot. “You can wait for me or know I’m coming right back. You don’t have to do this alone.”
She hugs me and I feel her body shaking. “Angering the elders at this point will not endear me to them. I will go in knowing you will be here soon, thank you, Jared.”
“You got this, Wuyituwôk.” I kiss her head and run back to the chopper. My girl needs someone at her back.
I drop the chopper at the hangar and jump on my bike making Security in no time. When I walk in the front door I hear Christian yelling and jog down the hall to the meeting room. “...of nerve. You gambled her money away and set sanctions on her like she’s a fuckin’ country. If she wanted Aaron she would be with Aaron.” My chest gets tight hearing those words. What the fuck is with these people and Aaron? The door has a hand holding it, but it’s not open. This is Christian. He laughs, but it’s sarcastic. “So, she can pick Aaron and Jared or a Warrior of your choosing? You fuckin’ people are too much. Co, you need to talk to this jerk. He gambled every penny of her money and sits here like he has a fuckin’ right. We put our lives on the line for shit like this from them? I’m out.”
I can’t breathe. My hands are on my knees and I’m trying, but not enough air is getting in. They want her with two men? This is fucked up. I’m not sharing her. A hand hits my shoulder.
“Brother, you make it in the end. Don’t fuck it up and don’t let that asshole get to you.”
I push myself up. I make it in the end. “Nothing is written again?”
He smiles. “Oh, it’s written — and they fuckin’ know it. He’s covering his gambling problem and using her to do it. Kaya isn’t helping Aiyana either. I didn’t see all of that one, but tell her to be careful.” He puts his thumb on the keypad and opens the door for me. “Don’t jump before you think.”
“Thanks, Christian.” He slaps my shoulder and I walk in.
Fuckin’ Aaron is sitting on the side of Dakota. ‘I am glad you are here, Brother. Aiyana could use the support,’ Dakota says in my head. The seat between him and Aiyana is open. Maybe Christian sat here.
I sit on the side of her and take her hand. “I heard them trying to replace me and almost passed out.”
She smiles. “It will not happen.”
Prez stops pacing. “So far, her father gambled her money away. They want a LaPonte-James with you and Aiyana or her to marry a Warrior of the tribes choosing. Sanctions of no contact with Anglos and living in her parents’ house or she is banished. Any kids can’t be Anglo without a LaPonte-James. Did I miss anything? Oh, yeah, the job. She is not to work off the reservation or use her abilities to help anyone but Indians and she does it for free.”
I look at her father. “I pick Alex LaPonte-James for a partner.” Aaron, Prez and Dakota bark out laughter.
An old man looks at Dakota. “Why is this amusing?”
“Alex has Down Syndrome. He’s the most compassionate, caring LaPonte-James I know and I choose him. We’ll need a house and place for my chopper. Aiyana said you won’t allow it on the reservation so I’ll buy land on the side of the reservation or the old Lightfoot building and park it there. If you’re looking for a buyer, Dakota, I’m it. My family will need access to our house, so standing orders for the entire Baxter family with our new LaPonte-James affiliation will need to be given to RS. Also, because I am a Baxter, Aiyana will need Security for all the appearances she will be required at. I’m sure her new mother-in-law, Kate LaPonte-James, and my mom will request her presence regularly. Any kids we have will be Baxters as well as LaPonte-James. They will be treated as equals by everyone on this planet or I’ll ask my mother for a personal favor of teaching them herself. I am sure you will love her, but you may want to keep her away from your women. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep Kate away from them too. She saves oppressed women for a living.”
Dakota laughs and Co looks at him. Co doesn’t look very happy. “His mother is Mitch, my mother-in-law.”
“Mitch Baxter?” the man beside Co asks. Who the fuck is this guy?
“That is my father, Jared, and the Chief is beside him,” Dakota says.
I throw chin to the Chief and ignore the rest. “My father said something a
bout helping with water rights to stop pipelines for you, if there’s a way, he’ll find it.” The man nods and looks at Co.
“As funny as you are, Mr. Baxter, the point still stands that Aiyana carries abilities from the ancestors that need to be protected.” Dakota’s dad is a dick. Dakota covers his mouth. I am not, nor will I, shield here. I’m not afraid of my thoughts being read.
“You know who the Baxters are and you know their position. I’m sure they will handle her Security without a problem or complaint. Even if they didn’t, Jared and Princes would cover Aiyana in Security and it wouldn’t ever register with either of us.” Prez throws out pissed.
“They will not live on the reservation with bastard children.” Her father is a piece of shit.
I stand up fast leaning over the table closer to her father. Aaron and Dakota are standing beside me. “Never will your antiquated, racist views be acceptable. The ancestors are pleased with our union, but you, a gambling thief, who are in such good standing with your own ancestors, feel comfortable passing judgement against what they say?”
Dakota’s father gets pissed. “You know nothing of the ancestors!”
I sit and smile at him. “The complete blackness as wind rushes your body, spinning so fast you’re lightheaded and finally the bright beautiful colors, with a lake and trees around it. A rock that looks like a dock, almost glowing in orange and the feelings...”
“Enough!”
I smile at Aiyana’s father. “The ancestors are happy with her choice. You should be too, since they’re YOUR ancestors.”
Aiyana squeezes my arm. I sit quiet figuring she’s telling me to shut up. “I will not accept your sanctions. Dakota left and he was not subject to this imprisonment. Plenty of Warriors work off the reservation and do not live by your sanctions. Because I am a woman is not enough of a reason for all of this. I agree with Jared and Christian — I am being punished as a distraction to the real crime that has taken place. Co, you can see in my father’s heart as well as I can. He covers his behavior with hatred. I am too old for all this teenage foolishness.”
